The Mercury Mariner is a basic-level compact luxury crossover SUV that was launched in 2005. It was a sibling of the Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute, even though it was a bit high up market over the remaining two. It was similar to the Ford Escape mechanically, but it had stylistic differences like A monotone cladding, European styled signal repeaters, A two-tone interior, and Mercury signature “waterfall” front grille. It was the first car-based SUV of Mercury and was slotted under the Mountaineer in the series. It was the first Mercury that contained 4-cylinder versioned engine. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 'Presidential Edition' The Hybrid Mariner engine was similar to its companion; the Ford Hybrid. It was introduced in 2006 to the U.S automobile markets. Similar to the Ford Escape Hybrid, the Hybrid Mariner has full hybrid electric system. This means that the system can swap automatically among pure gasoline engine power, pure electric power, or a grouping of gasoline engine and electric battery operating together for gaining max. efficiency and performance at all loads and speeds. When decelerating or braking, the hybrid system of Mariner utilizes regenerative braking, whereas the electric drive motor happens to be a generator, exchanging the momentum of vehicle, and gets back to electricity for saving the batteries. With the help of generated power level of 155 hp, the hybrid Mariner has almost the similar acceleration performance just like the standard 150 kW (200 hp). Again, similar to the Escape Hybrid, it comes with a decent 34 miles per US gallon.
